CMC Limited announced today
that its Automotive Solutions Group has
achieved Automotive SPICE Organisational
Maturity Level 3 certification under the
PATHFINDER interim assessment and
certification scheme for process capability
and organisational maturity. It is believed
to be one of the few organisations in
the world to be recognised in this manner
in Automotive Electronics and Embedded
systems.
The motor vehicle manufacturers
through the Automotive SPICE initiative
have set demanding new standards with
respect to software quality by developing
a common framework for the assessment
of suppliers based on the international
standard ISO/IEC 15504.
CMC's achievement reflects
the maturity of its software development
processes, supports its position as a
world leader in the engineering of complex
software systems for automotive applications,
and establishes its quality and process
as among the best in the industry.

The Automotive SPICE
initiative includes the car manufacturers
AUDI AG, BMW Group, DaimlerChrysler AG,
Fiat Auto S.p.A., Ford Werke GmbH, Jaguar,
Land Rover, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG,
Volkswagen AG and Volvo Car Corporation.
The assessment was performed
by Alec Dorling, the international convener
of the ISO standardisation project and
SPICE project manager from Impronova (Sweden),
and M.S Sivakumar from KPMG (India).
