CMC, a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services, said Kalpana Morparia, Vice Chairman - insurance securities & asset management, ICICI Group, has been appointed as an independent director on its board.

Morparia was the joint managing director of ICICI Bank till May, 2007. A graduate in science and law from Bombay University, Morparia joined ICICI Limited in 1975 and led the ICICI group's major corporate structuring initiative, the merger of ICICI Limited with ICICI Bank to create India's second largest bank.

Meanwhile, CB Bhave has resigned from the CMC board on joining SEBI as Chairman. With the addition of Morparia, there are seven directors on the CMC board including four independent directors. These include S Ramadorai, R Ramanan, Ishaat Hussain, KRS Murthy, Surendra Singh and Shardul Shroff.
