Mumbai, April 17, 2007: SOFTWARE firm CMC Ltd today posted an over two fold rise in net profit for the quarter ended March 31 at Rs 19.54 crore as compared to Rs 8.55 crore for the same quarter last year.

However, the total income of the company decreased to Rs 251.11 crore for the quarter ended March 31 from Rs 259.71 crore for the corresponding quarter a year ago, the software company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

For the year ended March 31, the company recorded a 45.30 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 64.09 crore as compared to Rs 44.11 crore last year. The total income rose to Rs 994.40 crore from Rs 857.75 crore.

Earlier in April 14, the company declared a dividend of Rs 8 on shares of Rs 10 each (80 per cent), subject to the approval of the shareholders at the ensuing Annual General Meeting scheduled to be held on June 25.

The group posted a profit of Rs 20.82 crore for the quarter ended March 31, as against Rs 9.95 crore for the same quarter last year. The total income was up to Rs 290.57 crore for the fourth quarter from Rs 279.05 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

The group posted a profit of Rs 69.32 crore for the year ended March 31 as against Rs 48.54 crore last year.

The total income of the group increased to Rs 1,085.30 crore for the year ended March 31 from Rs 916.15 crore in the corresponding period last year - PTI
