CMC declares 50 per cent dividend

CMC posted a net profit of Rs 8.55 crore for the quarter ended March 31 as compared to a net loss of Rs 16.72 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year. Total income rose to Rs 259.71 crore for the fourth quarter in 2005-06 from Rs 215.45 crore in the year-ago period, up 20.54 per cent. The company's board has recommended a dividend of 50 per cent on shares of Rs 10 each for the year ended March 31 as against 45 per cent paid for the previous year, subject to shareholders approval. For the year ended March 2006, the company reported a net profit of Rs 44.11 crore.
