CMC raises dividend

CMC posted a net profit of Rs 8.55 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006 as compared to a net loss of Rs 16.72 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year. Total income rose to Rs 259.71 crore for the fourth quarter in 2005-06 from Rs 215.45 crore in the year-ago period, up 20.5 per cent. The company's board has recommended a dividend of 50 per cent as against 45 per cent. For the year ended March 31, 2006, the company reported a net profit of Rs 44.11 crore against Rs 23.05 crore for the corresponding period last fiscal. Total income increased to Rs 857.75 crore from Rs 782.47 crore.
