Jharkhand
moves ahead on road to e-governance

In a major initiative towards
e-governance, the Jharkhand government
on Tuesday embarked on a public-private
venture to computerise all the 29 registration
offices in the state.
The tripartite agreement of the department
of registration, department of information
and technology and CMC Limited was signed
in the presence of chief minister Arjun
Munda.
Registration secretary
K Vidyasagar, IT secretary RS Sharma,
and CMC vice-president Sibal Ghosh signed
the tripartite agreement at the chief
minister's residence here.
Claiming, that it was a major step towards
efforts for good governance, Mr Munda
said health, employment exchange, treasury
and municipalities were other areas where
e-governance would be extended to enable
transparency.
Registration and IT minister Chandra Prakash
Choudhury hoped the landmark agreement
would reduce land disputes.
As per the agreement, the private service
provider would prepare the site, install
computers and man counters in all registration
offices under the supervision of the sub-registrar
concerned.
