CMC's Systems Integration
Business Unit of Northern Region has been
assessed at SEI CMM Level 5.
CMC Ltd. announced that
its Systems Integration Business Unit
of the Northern Region has been assessed
at SEI-CMM Level 5, the highest level
of Capability Maturity Model (CMM) of
the Software Engineering Institute (SEI),
at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh,
PA, US.
The assessment scope included
the locations of Delhi, Lucknow, Bhopal,
Indore and Raipur. Having achieved this
milestone, all CMC's regional software
operations in the country have achieved
CMM certifications with the Western, Southern
and Northern Region assessed at SEI-CMM
Level 5 and the Eastern Region assessed
at SEI-CMM Level 4.
With these achievements,
CMC continues its quality journey towards
improved software development and services.
CMC's managing director and CEO, R. Ramanan,
said, "The recognition mirrors the
company's endeavors to excel in the key
process areas to achieve a quality management
system. This has enabled us to improve
customer focus and sustain the process
improvement initiatives by explicitly
linking them to business goals."
This is the first assessment
in CMC where the SCAMPI methodology was
adopted for CMM. SCAMPI methodology is
more rigorous and extensive as compared
to the normal CBA-IPI methodology.
All the goals covering key
process areas defined by SEI-CMM for each
level, Repeatable-L2, Defined-L3, Managed-L4
and Optimised-L5 for continuous process
improvement met the fully satisfied criteria.
SEI-CMM is the industry
standard for assessing software development
processes. Assessments range from levels
1 to 5, with 5 being the highest.
