CMC's new courses for engineering students
The Hindu, July 29 2005

Hyderabad: CMC Limited has announced that it will take two in-demand courses - Essential Diploma for Graduate Engineers (EDGE) and Course in Embedded Systems - to campuses of engineering colleges for enhancing the employability of students.

The two courses will at once elevate the employability factor of students as they impart them technical skills that are currently in great demand, according to a press release.

The company announced a decision to this effect at the day-long workshop on "enhancing the employability of engineering students" organised in collaboration with JNTU at its Gachibowli campus here on Thursday.

The initiative was an attempt to decrease the preparation time and cost burden on students and CMC trainers would provide training for these courses to students at their respective college campuses using the infrastructure there.

Students, in turn, would not spend time in completing the courses after finishing their degree and the step would also reduce cost substantially as the CMC would be using the infrastructure of the college.

Principals and heads of departments from over 100 colleges attended the workshop where the speakers opined that focus on acquiring additional technical skills and getting a feel of industry trends was imperative for engineering students to make themselves "employable" once out of the college.
