CMC Limited announced its
financial results for the half year ended
September 2005. The total revenue of the
company increased by 11.1 per cent to Rs. 402.07
crore compared with Rs. 361.78 crore earned
in the corresponding period in the previous
year. The company's profit before tax
for the period was Rs. 36.20 crore compared
with Rs. 36.74 crore in the corresponding
period in the previous year. The profit
for the current period is inclusive of
Rs. 22.32 crore of gains on sale of certain
surplus residential properties. The Company
made a provision of Rs. 11.41 crore for
income tax and fringe benefit tax during
the period. The Fringe Benefit Tax amounted
to Rs. 1.66 crore. The profit after tax
for the period is Rs. 24.79 crore.
The consolidated revenues
of the company along with its wholly-owned
subsidiary, CMC Americas Inc., for the
half year ended September, 2005 increased
by 13.4 per cent to Rs. 425.20 crore as compared
to Rs. 375.01 crore in the corresponding
period in the previous year. The consolidated
profit after tax for the half-year ended
September 2005 is Rs. 26.52 crore.
The wholly-owned subsidiary
of the Company, CMC Americas Inc. continued
improved performance with 45 per cent growth in
revenues to $ 12.86 million as compared
to $ 8.87 million in the corresponding
period in the previous year. The growth
in the revenues of CMC Americas Inc. is
primarily attributed to increased embedded
systems business.
CMC has won the implementation
of a Terminal management system for a
global shipping company, a biometric based
security and identification system for
a leading organization, GENISYS (General
Insurance System) implementation for a
leading private insurance provider, and
a freight management system for a Middle
East Rail transportation organization
during the last quarter.
The Company added 415 employees
during the first half of the current year
to build capacity & capabilities and
bridge skill gaps to meet requirement
of growth in line with our strategy.
