CMC's
MAPIN application goes live

National securities
depository limited went live with CMC's
application called market participant
and Investors (MAPIN) database. This is
the first civilian biometric application
introduced by the securities and exchange
board of India (SEBI) for unique identification
of market participants / investors. G
N Bajpai, chairman, SEBI, inaugurated
the MAPIN system on November 25, 2003
at The Oberoi in Mumbai. Also present
for the occasion were R Ramanan, DMD and
COO, C B Bhave, managing director-NSDL,
Rajesh Doshi, executive director-NSDL,
Gagan Rai, executive director-NSDL, S
Balakrishnan, general manager-WR and officials
of NSDL and CMC.
The software solution
would be making extensive use of the finger
print technology software (FACTS), which
is a well-known flagship product of CMC.
The proposed system will be using high
tech security measures such as smart card
authentication and PKI (public key infrastructure)
technology to keep the access and operations
of the system well secured. This project
has been very critical and the software
development team has put in efforts day
and night to make it a grand success.
The customer too has appreciated the efforts
of the CMC team and the quality of the
delivered software.
