E&T becomes channel partner for Thomson Learning USA
September 16, 2003

E&T has signed an agreement with Thomson Learning, USA on September 16, 2003 at CMC's corporate office, Delhi. S K Jhamb, vice president, E&T and Keith Targett, director, Channels of Thomson Learning, signed the agreement. As per this agreement, E&T has become the Thomson Learning channel partner to distribute three of their products namely NETg online courses, wave centres and course technologies. This will help CMC provide product based services and solutions for eLearning in India.

Under this agreement CMC can resell self-paced training materials from NETg (Thomson Learning Group Company). There are three different options that CMC's customers can opt for. First one is to purchase a shrink-wrapped product containing CDs of NETg. Second one is distribute the courseware online in LAN environment and third one would be to host the entire content on the internet / company's intranet. Armed with a vast NETg library will be able to offer flexible, customer specific solutions in the market place. Thomson Learning is also making available a tool called NLO+ that will allow CMC to customise the existing online courses to meet customer's specific training requirements.

CMC will also be opening Thomson Wave Centres. This would mean that Thomson Learning will make available vendor certified instructional materials (self-study kits in the form of books and CDs). Advantage for CMC is that it can offer different certification tracks in its Wave Centres without actually getting into separate agreement with different vendors. Thomson Learning is also making available a process of boot camp, which assures the customer (student seeking certification) success in the certification examination. CMC will be the exclusive partner that will be running Wave Centres in the country.

Thomson Learning has provided CMC with a printed courseware customization tool called Course technology, which allows the user to customise course material according to the need. This will make CMC courses more cost effective, since only relevant reading material will be given to the course participants.
