The nature of war has changed, fundamentally, in the decade of the 1990s. It is no longer just blood, guts and gore; warfare is now a hi-tech operation, and combatants need to be technicians, too. In the years to come, every soldier will have to be a scientist. In its own little way, CMC has been helping India's defence establishment to make the leap.

We have been involved in developing defence applications since the late 1980s. We set up, on a turnkey basis, a Production Planning & Control (PPC) system at the Indian defence production headquarters in Kolkata, linked to all its 39 ordnance factories for defence production. Since then, our engagement with the Indian defence establishment has widened and deepened. We have developed cutting-edge systems for the Indian defence forces, helping them to prepare for the warfare of the future.

Our defence solutions include:

	FADHS (Futuristic Automatic Data Handling System): A real-time command and control system for air defence applications.
	PPC (Production Planning and Control System): An end-to-end online integrated system for defence production factories. Handles production planning and control, from the time of order receipt through production to delivery.
	VEDAS (Vehicle Electronics Data Acquisition System): A real-time vehicle sensory system which continuously monitors the health of all combat vehicles (such as armoured vehicles and battle tanks) in a battalion.
