An increase in organised crime and communal violence has led to the duties of the police being widened. This is especially in terms of monitoring the activities of the force, as well as taking preventive and counteractive measures, so as to provide adequate security to the citizens. The police department launched a modernisation drive using information technology to enhance its performance.

To study, design, develop and implement a comprehensive software solution for computerising police operations and to provide software maintenance services for three years.

The application aids in crime control, law and order, and other administrative operations. Its primary purpose is to maintain information to monitor and enhance the performance of the department. It computerises crime-fighting activities, administration and support services across a state in an integrated fashion, to enable senior police officers to access information easily.
