Project
Date warehouse: Global logistics management
system
Client
Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, Michigan,
USA
The
Ford Motor Company needed a data warehousing
solution for its global logistics management
system. Its size was to be 40 gigabytes
and it was to have over 100 users. CMC's
brief involved designing of the warehouse
to ensure compatibility to the business
objects reporting tool. This included
designing of the dimension tables, including
the plant, supplier, time, carrier, parts,
model, etc. CMC was also involved in designing
the fact tables like freight bill, vouchers,
shipments, shipping instructions, etc.
The system was designed to create various
canned reports like shipment frequency,
accrual, carrier performance, etc, and
supported users' ad hoc queries using
the business objects universe.
